CDS Requirements for Direct Support Professionals
Essential Online Lessons
As a new DSP, there is a variety of trainings you must complete before working alone with the people we support.
All non-DSP employees are assigned the following online modules to prioritize before other trainings. Please take the time to complete these classes as soon as possible.
- ME Introduction to Developmental Disabilities
- ME HCBS 101
- ME Direct Support Professionalism
- ME Individual Rights and Choice
- ME Maltreatment
Live Session 1
As a new staff, there is a variety of trainings you must complete before working alone with the people we support.
All new employees are scheduled to attend live dates with the following sessions. This expands their connections with the company and provides an opportunity for discussion and interaction.

Live Session 2

Live Session 3
As a new staff, there is a variety of trainings you must complete before working alone with the people we support.

Other Online Lessons
The rest of these classes are due within the first 6 months of employment.
After finishing the 11 live sessions and the 19 online modules, new staff notify the training administrator to receive their DSP certificate.

Renewal Classes (Every Year)
If a staff is re-assigned these classes it’s because they’ve been a DSP for 1+ years.
There are classes that are required annually. These are necessary to keep your DSP certificate up to date. Please take the time to complete your renewal classes as soon as possible.
- ME HCBS 101 or 102 or 103
- ME Employment First 101
- ME Person-Centered Planning
Renewal Classes (Every 3 Years)
If a staff is re-assigned these classes it’s because they’ve been a DSP for 3+ years.
There are classes that are required every 3 years. These are necessary to keep your DSP certificate up to date. Please take the time to complete your renewal classes as soon as possible.
